Here's my take on them.
Highlands
Domination: Man this map is dynamic. It's a brief fight to control the highground, which is then used to reinforce the catwalks, which are used to assault the objective. However, the catwalks are weak against spammed explosives and are exposed to dropships that can drop down and missile them, as well as people on the roof. People on the roof can't shoot into the objective though, only making them good for taking the catwalks (see what I'm getting to here?). Ground is fairly vulnerable, but there are lots of nooks and crannies for equipment, and lots of cover around the northern side of the objective. There are so many entrances to the objective, things get crazy FAST.
Skirmish: In all honesty, it's a fight to control B and C. Take those two, and then pin them in on A. If they try to heavy spam B, just take A. Fairly straightforward. Not as fun as domination.
Sockets
Power Core: In domination, it's a rush to the point. Frantic and fun, but whoever can take the objective, clear it, and then spam heavies and logi's will win. It's far too hard to push a good team out. You just take the point with heavies, and send scouts up above to kill anyone who tries to shoot in too much.
The Production Facility: ERHMAGURD this map is freaking AWESOME. Me and FA played a round of Dom on this socket and we were ALL blown away by it. Cover everywhere. Catwalks leading all over the facility. It's literally a dynamic fight with TONS of vertical gameplay. You can run at the highest level and look down at the fight below, moving to flank. Or you can suit up, take the middle road in with an LAV (Nobody thinks to bring AV into the socket huehuehue) and push everyone back, making room for the heavy guns. This is by FAR my favorite socket, and we were all wondering what it would be like to have a PC in there. So many angles and avenues for attack, it would probably degenerate into the worlds greatest war of attrition.
The Barracks: is the only socket I haven't seen yet. Excited to see it. Someone tell me whats it's like if you've been lucky
Moods
Toxic: Very cool. Light green atmosphere with reduced visibility and cool particles. It glitches into the warbarge a lot though, making for some fun laughs while prepping for PC.
Stormy: Haven't seen it yet. Kinda hyped.
Previous Map Changes
Fracture Road: In Dom, it's still a fight for the high ground. It's just more accessible now. Control the top, spam links and fight for the objective. Still loads of fun if you have two very aggressive teams.
Border Gulch: A lot more fun. The moved redline on the south side makes it pretty hard to redline camp the team, especially with another oil drum giving cover, and the area being an unremoveable ground spawn. Both teams also reach the objective quicker in Dom, and lead to more fun fights. Same goes for the other side, although it's slightly easier to redline camp due to the lack of cover into their ground spawn.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the new map and especially with the new sockets. As one squad member said "It's great that CCP is creating maps that are actually dynamic, instead of just throwing a complex down and surrounding it with hills."
So far, everyone I've been with has been impressed. Keep it up CCP! And make that Production Facility more common, that map is THE BOMB.
Bullet Hell and Duct-Tape? Count me in!
